Show in Review: The Space LV
by sanguinesinner · February 28, 2019
Ladies, gentlemen, boys & girls, and that technicolor rainbow in between….I am Nox Aragon. Now, I’m gonna keep this short & painless… Been a Vegas local for over 6 years now, love the house and bar shows here, and play blackened extreme metal in my band ‘Draugr’. I enjoy long walks down the parking lot as I pregame for a local show and I got a feeling I’m also gonna enjoy doing these articles for Savage Annie \m/ So let’s get this train wreck started!

I been to a whole lotta venues in Vegas since my time here began, from the infamous Dive Bar to the now defunct Cheyenne Saloon, but ‘The Space’ was a venue I had only just experienced recently. Set in the shadow of the Rio, This gem could be found tucked away near West Harmon & Polaris Ave.
So on Feb 21st I hit this joint up to see my band-mate perform with local proggy, techy, death metal bad-asses ‘Omniversa’ as part of the ‘The Archangels Tour ‘ for ‘A Perfect Being’. I had no idea what I expected to see once I arrived. Was this gonna be like the Vinyl in Hard Rock Hotel, or more carefree like the Double Down Saloon??

Well once I got there I found out there were designated spots to park, so yea, that came off as a hell of a surprise. Anybody else get told where to park for a concert before? I thought they were bout to come to my car door and start checking me for drugs next! XD But really, the dudes out in the parking lot were cool. Once I stepped inside the atmosphere felt pretty cool. Unisex bathrooms to my left, merch tables to my right, bar off to the corner, and the entrance to the stage straight ahead! I really dug the layout of this place. Kinda like a downsized House of Blues.

This lineup that night was hardcore stacked! No pun intended, but most of these bands were hardcore too. My boy, my bud, my bassist was opening first with Omniversa and, not trying to play favorites, but they were definitely one of the heaviest fucking bands that night. Set up on a high stage, with tv monitors, and stage lighting; The Space seemed most definitely like a downsized House of Blues, in only the best ways.

The Progressive Metalcore band ‘A Perfect Being‘ headlined this night but some others before them caught my attention. From what I took from it, ‘Take’ was a hardcore band that is lyrically very empathetic concerning the hardships and woes of people facing depression and doubt. These Jurassic Park-themed dudes seemed to really care about their crowd and were more than willing to talk to them if they needed it. Seemed like real cool fucking dudes.

‘Lucrecia’ was another band that caught my attention that night. With two lead vocalists, both mostly screaming, and a heavy-hitting band I felt these dudes came off real hard and heavy.
Honorable mentions of the night also include Las Vegas local bands Silence Speaks, Guilty by Design and Shallow Like Me. I caught some footage live footage on my YouTube channel for your eyeballs to absorb
As for the future of these bands, Omniversa will be playing again March 3rd at The Dive Bar on Maryland & Flamingo. Their bassist, my band-mate, also plays bass for our band Draugr and we’ll be on that show too. For $10 you too can support your local metal scene you sons o’ bitches! So come on out!! As for The Space, overall, for the $10 presale price, I felt I got the most bang for my buck that night. Stacked lineup, great sound, and just overall cool fucking environment.
